The Last Emperor (1987) Rated TV-14

The story of the final Emperor of China. Starring  John Lone, Joan Chen, and Peter O’Toole.

This is a long biopic on the sixty years of the Emperor of China. It’s interesting, but it’s not the best explained historical film. The story is beautifully told through costumes, set designs, and cinematography. The film jumps around the life of the Emperor with little explanation of the history that surrounds him. It follows the life of the emperor, and it’s very informative – there is a lot of information I did not know. It’s like a compounded story that moves quickly through his life by moving from past to present and back. The production design alone makes this film worth a watch.
