Nebraska (2013) Rated R

A father and son take a road trip from Montana to Nebraska to claim a Mega Sweepstakes Marketing prize. Starring Bruce Dern, Will Forte, and June Squibb.

Nebraska brings great characters to the picture. It also brings forth the realistic heartbreak of family. It’s a slow-moving, unpleasant family drama. This is heightened by the fact that it is filmed in black and white. The performances of Dern and Forte are brilliant. I was pleasantly surprised by Forte’s performance. Usually the comic genius, he brings forth the heavy hitting character. It’s a painful, dysfunctional family, but the actors and script make us not want to look away. This movie is worth a watch.
