Hunter Killer (2018) Rated R

An American submarine captain teams up with the Navy SEALs to rescue the Russian President. Starring Ethan Baird, Jacob Scipio, Dempsey Bovell, Gerard Butler, Gary Oldman, The Common, and Linda Cardellini.

This film brings a whole other take on the cold war. We have a coup inside the Russian government, and the U.S. comes in to rescue the Russian President. I actually wonder if this were to happen in life if we would go in to rescue the president. The film has an unbelievable script, but, all around, it just didn’t seem realistic. Coming to save the day is Gerard Butler, who is used to playing the war hero. He’s got that down as well as playing the good guy. That’s not really a complaint – I do enjoy watching Butler perform – it’s just a “been there, done that” performance. The film is just too predictable for its own good. Nothing about this film makes me think that it’s worth a watch.
