This film is most notable for turning Jane Russell into a sex symbol. However, the story is intriguing and makes me wonder how historically accurate it is. The film also struggles with the censors because of the clothing Russell wore during the filming. In fact, Howard Hughes created a bra to enhance Russell’s breasts, but she chose not to wear it on set due to how uncomfortable it was. Overall, the film is a great western that brings the characters to life. It isn’t as graphic as the censors believed it to be, but it was hotter than the films of its time. I think that the talk of the film being overly sensual makes this film more classical than it actually is. It’s not a great film, but it is still a film worth a watch.
