My New Best Friend (2015) Rated TV-PG

A hard-nosed K-9 cop befriends a girl whose mother is seriously ill; along the way, they both discover the family they never knew they needed. Starring James Denton, Lilah Fitzgerald, and Laura Mennell.

This film is rather depressing despite the film being a family movie. First off, the cop seems to be the most irresponsible cop I’ve seen. He meets a little girl whose mother is seriously ill and running away from an abusive husband. The little girl is precocious and is trying desperately not to be sent to an orphanage. Of course, the film involves dogs of all sorts. The music that plays in the background gives you mixed messages on what you should feel. This is a family film, but it deals with very adult themes that younger children might struggle with. This film is not worth a watch.
