Left Behind (2014) Rated PG-13

A small group of survivors is left behind after millions of people vanish. Based on the series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins. Starring Nicolas Cage, Chad Michael Murray, and Cassi Thomson.

I’m not sure if this film is better or worse than the 2000 version. There are good and bad things about this film. For one, the acting is a little bit better, but the script is worse. I still really wish they could bring these books to life, but I have yet to see it done well. I think that the film could have done better with a better script and actors that really believe in their characters. I actually thought the film wasn’t as preachy as it should have been; I felt the film glossed over the religious tones. I get it – you’re trying to find a happy medium, but the books are Christian, so the film should stick to the Christian story. This film is not worth a watch.
