Northpole: Open for Christmas (2015) Rated TV-G

Mackenzie inherits her Aunt’s inn and decides to sell it. However, fixing it up proves to be challenging until the Christmas magic takes over. Starring Lori Loughlin, Bailee Madison, and Dermot Mulroney.

This film is the usual Hallmark Christmas film fare. It’s sweet and really doesn’t have a plot. It lacks continuity, and there are conversations that don’t make sense or push the story along. I also wonder at how long Bailee Madison can play a kid. She is a teenager! I think she should’ve acted more grownup. Nothing against her – I just feel that she doesn’t look like a little kid enjoying Christmas; she should be doing more age-appropriate roles. I know there isn’t a lot out there that’s not about sex, drugs, and rock ‘n roll for her age, but I would like to see her in roles closer to her true age. The chemistry between Loughlin and Mulroney is okay, but not the best. I wish this film was better, but alas, it’s not worth a watch.
