Three outlaws run into a woman giving birth in the desert. The woman dies, leaving the care of her daughter to the three men. Starring John Wayne, Pedro Armendáriz, and Harry Carey Jr.
This film is brilliant. It’s a character study of the three men tasked with the job of taking care of a newborn. These men are evil, and as they are tasked with the baby, they take on unselfish roles. It’s reminiscent of the biblical story of the three wisemen. The men’s performances are amazing to watch. John Wayne is at his best, and Armendáriz is brilliant. The cinematography of the desert is beautiful. The film surprised me with its wonderful nuances of Wayne and the brilliance of the desert colors. This is a film that is worth a watch.
