Five sisters in the 19th Century cope with the pressure to marry while the country is overrun by zombies. Based on the book by Seth Grahame-Smith. Starring Lily James, Sam Riley, and Bella Heathcote.
This film is not the Jane Austen story. We have the backdrop of Austen’s story but with the contemporary telling of zombies. The Bennet daughters have been raised to protect themselves from the zombies that have become part of their everyday lives. It’s an interesting and fun watch as a different variation of the story. The first letdown is that the actors don’t hold a candle to the characters of Austen. The second is that the romance between Darcy and Elizabeth isn’t as romantic or sweet. I know that it had a fine line to draw between retelling Austen and making a story about zombies. It wasn’t a bad blend, but for an Austen fan, it doesn’t hold a candle to the original. It’s not worth a watch.
