The Million Dollar Hotel (2000) Rated R

A romantic, tragic-comedy “whodunit” in a hotel, where the mentality ill who are unable to pay for their medical bills are hosted. Starring  Jeremy Davies, Milla Jovovich, and Mel Gibson.

This is one of those artsy films that the average film goer will struggle to get. I will say it wasn’t one I found interesting. The tale is narrated by the dead junkie whose death is being investigated by the cop (Gibson). The investigation takes place in the hotel where mentality ill vagrants have squatted. The two love birds are the main character, Tom-Tom (Davies), and a schizophrenic girl (Jovovich). The film doesn’t really focus on the plot of the film but rather the characters and their surreal, postapocalyptic surroundings. The cinematography is brilliantly showcased by the insane lives the people from the hotel live. It’s an interesting story but doesn’t have anything solid to wonder at, which I would say is the point of the film. That still doesn’t make it worth a watch, so it’s not worth it.
