Free Guy (2021) Rated PG-13

A bank teller in a game discovers he’s a non-player character. Starring Ryan Reynolds, Jodie Comer, and Lil Rel Howery.

This is one of those quirky films that doesn’t make much sense but is still enjoyable to watch. Reynolds is at his A-game here. Although it’s a fun and enjoyable watch, the story isn’t new: an avatar that wants to be free and a computer software that is stolen. It’s a “been there, seen that” film. While it nails the game-playing aspect, the main story seems to have missed its mark. It’s got a romance side, which is somewhat fun to watch, but it falls flat in the end. For the most part, the film is a fun watch, but the ending just isn’t there. Even though there are plot holes and it’s a flat story, it’s still a fun watch, making it worth a watch.
