The Rocker (2008) Rated PG-13

In the 80s, a drummer is dropped by his band right before they hit it big. Now, twenty years later, he sees his comeback happen when he is asked to play with his nephew’s band. Starring Rainn Wilson, Christina Applegate, and Teddy Geiger.

This is one of those films that I ask myself, “why did I watch this?” There isn’t much going for it, except maybe escapism. At times, the soundtrack is great; this film has some classics, but it also has some originals. It’s very predictable from the bands and the romance to the ending. It uses slapstick comedy, physical comedy, and nudity to get its laughs. The film has its funny moments, but for the most part, it falls flat. It’s not worth a watch.
