Lars and the Real Girl (2007) Rated PG-13

A young man starts a relationship with a doll that he gets off the internet. Starring Ryan Gosling, Emily Mortimer, and Paul Schneider.

This film is brilliantly acted as Gosling plays the young man who is a hermit and struggles with real relationships. He receives a doll online and it becomes a safety net for him to come out of his shell. The story is wonderful as both family and friends weigh the pros and cons of Lars’ (Gosling) relationship with the doll. The film has heart as Lars goes from social anxiety to being able to have real relationships with those around him. While the story is sweet and bizarre, the acting is all around near perfect. It’s a film that is worth a watch.
