The Year Without a Santa Claus (1974) Rated TV-G

When a weary and tired Santa Claus thinks about canceling Christmas, Mrs. Claus and the elves set out to change his mind. Starring Shirley Booth, Mickey Rooney, and Dick Shawn.

This is one of the Rankin/Bass productions that is just perfect. It’s one of the lesser known stop motions, but it still has a beloved story that  brings out the joy of the season. The story is brilliant in telling about the over-extension that comes with the holidays while giving us the reason to enjoy the season. The film includes great music that enhances the story. The special has it’s own villains, the Miser Brothers, which aren’t as bad as they seem. This is one special that should be watched every year at Christmas. This is worth the watch.
