Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town (1970) Rated TV-G

A mailman tells the story of how we got Santa Claus. Based on the song from 1934 by Eddie Cantor. Starring Fred Astaire, Mickey Rooney, and Keenan Wynn.

This film is one that should be a tradition every year at Christmastime. It tells the story of how Santa Claus came to be and how other traditions that surround the man came about. It’s a Rankin/Bass production that stands against time. The storytelling is one of the best mixed with classic Christmas songs. It makes you want to sing along as they tell the story of Santa Claus. The film gives us a smart story of how Santa came to be while still commenting on the true reason for the season. It’s not blatant, but it’s a nice nod to Jesus. This is a film that is worth a watch.
