Ride (2014) Rated R

A mother travels to California to convince her son to go back to school. Starring Helen Hunt, Brenton Thwaites, and Julie Dretzin.

This film is quintessentially Helen Hunt. It takes on the mother that can’t let her child go. She moves across country in order to learn more about her son. While I thought it was written well and the mother’s point of view changed as time went on, so did her son’s. I did struggle with the morality of the mother as she is a hippy mom trying to learn what makes her son tic, which just pushes him further away.  Even with the love/hate relationship between the mother and son, the relationship is every parent’s real struggle. While she does go overboard a few times and hurts those around her, I still wonder if she could change. This film is worth the watch.
