Bull Durham (1988) Rated R

A fan has an affair every season with a minor league baseball player. Starring Kevin Costner, Susan Sarandon, and Tim Robbins.

This film revolves around great characters and a great story. It’s a love triangle romance story. While the film’s main story is a rookie trying to improve his game, the focus is the romance between the characters. It tells a great story with great actors, but I’m not that impressed with it. For one, I’m not fond of any of the characters. I don’t like Sarandon’s character at all or her chemistry with Robbins. The same goes for Robbins, I just don’t like how those two get together and then how they use sex as a game. Costner is the only one I like, and I just can’t see his character falling for Sarandon. Then you have the romance of the film. I really don’t see any of these characters really having a happily ever after, and for a romance, that is what I need. Granted, this is all my perspective. Overall, the film is well written, and the characters all are strong. Thus, I can see why everyone likes the film. For me, it’s not really worth it, but overall, I’ll say it’s worth the watch.
