Escape from a Nazi Death Camp (2014) Rated NR

On October 14, 1943, the inmates of the Sobibor death camp fought back with the biggest prison breakout of World War II. Starring Eric Meyers, Andreas Beckett, and Georg Nikolloff.

PBS interviews the remaining survivors of the Sobibor prison break. They tell their side of the story: how they planned the escape, how they survived it, and the aftermath. They recount the horrors of living in a place made to kill them and also the journey to come back to life after survival. This film is wonderfully made as the survivors go back to the land that was created to be the last place for them. This is a film worth the watch.

Tiffany Haddish Does Shark Week (Discovery) Rated NR

Tiffany Haddish is joining scientists in the study of sharks’ sex life. Starring Toby Daly-Engel, Tiffany Haddish, and Craig O’Connell.

This is one of those shows where Discovery brings a celebrity into the life of shark week. Shark week is the week where their programing all revolves around the study of sharks. This show, I believe, is made for the comedic reprieve of learning about shark life. This is supposed to bring the funny into the learning. Now, Haddish knew what she had to do to bring the laughs; although, it’s hard to find her humorous while the scientists attempt to explain what they’re trying to study. It missed the boat; she isn’t that funny, and whike she tries, her jokes fall flat. I would have loved to see her be serious about the topic rather than making jokes about it. This special is not worth the watch.

Class (BBCAmerica) Rated TV-14

Six students at the Coal Hill Academy have to deal with everyday life while also having to handle the effects of time travel. Starring Katherine Kelly, Greg Austin, and Jordan Renzo.

I am one of the few people in the world that have yet to see a single episode of Doctor Who. Although, I understand pop culture enough to appreciate the Doctor Who series. This series is difficult to follow as you try to understand who and what these characters are. I understood the concept of the school, but the writing was lacking for someone who hasn’t seen Doctor Who. Then you have the pacing, which doesn’t give us time to understand everything that’s happening or the effects it has on the characters. It’s a show that’s not worth the watch.

Time for Us to Come Home for Christmas (2020) Rated TV-G

Five guests are invited back to an Inn for Christmas. Starring Lacey Chabert, Stephen Huszar, and Lini Evans.

This is a cute romance with a nostalgic twist, and Chabert as the Hallmark belle is just as sweet. It’s wonderfully written, even if I figured out who sent them before the characters did. The big issue I have with this story is that the other four guests couldn’t care less who sent them. They answered Sarah’s questions, but to help her uncover the mystery? Nope, doesn’t matter to them, except of course the love interest. He’s the only one trying to help her uncover the clues. It’s just weird and out of place that Sarah’s the only one who cares. This film is not worth the watch.

Airport Security: Rome (NATGEO) Rated NR

The security at Rome’s Fiumicino Airport works around the clock to keep both the airport and their country free from criminal activity. Starring Giovanni Casavola, Mario Carraretto, and Giada Crivella.

This show is Season 8 of the series To Catch a Smuggler. It’s an interesting reality show that follows airport police (this time in Rome) work to keep criminal activity at bay. This is a tireless job as they not only protect their airports and their country but other countries in the world by preventing these criminals from getting to their destinations. It’s interesting to watch where these criminals try to hide their activities but also how they change their behavior once they are discovered. I’m amazed that people still try to do illegal activity. This show is worth the watch.

Andy Cohen’s Then and Now (Bravo) Rated NR

Andy Cohen goes through events of three different years (1989, 1994, and 2000) to compare them with today. Starring Andy Cohen, Wendi McLendon-Covey, and Gayle King.

I’m not really a fan of Andy Cohen. Sometimes I like him, but other times, he is annoying – and this is one of those times. There really is no point of looking at the events of the past and wondering how they would have happened if they happened today. It’s the past, and those things happened. Although they changed the world – some for good, others for bad – none of  it needs to be discussed today, especially when they have a left-leaning slant to the commentary. This series is not worth the watch.

Wedding Crashers (2005) Rated R

Two womanizing friends become wedding crashers to find women. Starring Owen Wilson, Vince Vaughn, and Christopher Walken.

This film has its funny moments. While the premise is nothing that makes the men likeable, the actors are good and know how to make the scenes funny, even if you’re not a fan of that type of humor. The film was made because of the number of top named actors that carried it. It’s over the top, but that’s part of its charm. While the writing leaves a lot to be desired, the film tries to overcome the fact that these men are not honorable by turning them into romantic comedy gentlemen. Thus, the ending is unbelievable, but since it’s a romantic comedy, there has to be a happy ending. This film is not worth the watch.

Truth and Iliza (Freeform) Rated NR

Iliza hosts a talkshow with special guests and comedy sketches. Starring Niccole Thurman, Justin Michael Stevenson, Tai Brown, and Iliza Shlesinger.

This show is stupid; it’s another left leaning mentality who believes everyone should think like they do. Luckily, it’s only a half-hour show. For the most part, it’s not funny, and while it’s a little cleaner than the other late-night shows, it’s still not clean enough for me. I’m just tired of them trying to throw their ideology in our faces, and having it on a channel that is geared to young adults makes it all the more despicable. This show is not worth the watch.
