Broadcasting Christmas (2016) Rated TV-G

Two broadcasters, who were once in love, battle for a position on the morning news. Starring Melissa Joan Hart, Dean Cain, and Cynthia Gibb.

This is one of my favorite Hallmark Christmas films. You have two of the better actors with Hart and Cain, and they have great chemistry together. The plot is a little bit different than the other Hallmark movies, but it still has the banter and romance. There is depth to this story that we don’t see in other Hallmark movies. It’s more of a film for adults rather than a cheesy teen flick, and that has to do with the script and the actors knowing their characters. This is a fun watch and worth a rewatch every season.

Killer Photo (2015) Rated TV-14

A woman and her husband are stalked by an anonymous person. Starring AnnaLynne McCord, Mark Ghanimé, and Gracyn Shinyei.

I really struggled with this film. I thought it was poorly written. There were so many plot holes that I wondered how a real person would react. Granted, I knew they wanted to throw in a plot twist, but acting unrealistically doesn’t make for a good film. It also has little substance. McCord is bland, but I did enjoy Ghanimé’s performance as the doting husband. As for the twist, you know that the stalker is someone close to the couple, but it did pull the wool over my eyes as to who it was. They did a good job of hiding the true stalker with bad writing, but it made me mad to watch how bad it was. This is not worth the watch.

 The Crown – Season 6 (TV-MA)

The early days of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign were the starting point of a legendary monarchy. At the time, though, she was just a young woman who had grown up not expecting to ever be queen. She became queen at a tumultuous time in world history and needed to quickly learn how to be the figurehead for a nation at war. Her relationship with legendary prime minister Winston Churchill was a particularly interesting aspect of her coming of age as queen. Boo! A Madea Halloween (2016) Rated PG-13

Madea fends off Halloween characters as she watches her great niece. Starring Tyler Perry, Cassi Davis, and Patrice Lovely.

This is, again, Madea at her finest. She is her typical self, attacking those around her with words, jokes, and physical antics, especially the children. Granted, most Madea films are basically the same but focused on a specific holiday. These are silly films that always have a good moral, which makes the character lovable. This installment is predictable of the franchise and does have its rambling moments, typical of Madea films. It entertains, but not enough to make it worth the watch.

Waiting… (2005) Rated R

A group of employees at a restaurant stave off boredom with antics. Starring Ryan Reynolds, Anna Faris, and Justin Long.

The one thing that makes this a comedy is having sex jokes revolve around the food you eat. This film has little comedic moments but many ick moments. Although, the show does portray the teen/college-age dilemmas with starting out. It brings up the questions, what am I doing with my life and why am I working in a place where the humor hasn’t grown up with me? I’m still trying to figure out why we produce so many crass humor films. Is there really an audience for these? The acting isn’t bad, but, of course, they have many strong cast members. The script, while it finishes the film on a good note, wanders between A and B and was a snooze fest. Thus, the film is not worth the watch.
