The Chambermaid on the Titanic (1997)

Rated NR

A french foundry worker wins a chance to see the maiden voyage of the Titanic. On the night before the send off he meets a chambermaid who intrigues him. When he returns home, his wife was believed to have had an affair, so in retaliation he embellished his story. Starring Olivier Martinez, Romane Bohringer, Aitana Sánchez-Gijón

I enjoyed this movie. Bigas Luna was able to keep us guessing about what is the truth and what isn’t. It intrigues us and brings forth our own passions and dreams. The film also allows us to take a look at ourselves and our enjoyment of stories, believing the grass is always greener on the other side. To the end, we question what really happened between the chambermaid and the foundry worker. It’s a brilliant film.
