Le Havre (2011) Rated NR

An African boy arrives by cargo ship to the port of Le Havre. He meets an aging Shoe Shiner, who takes pity on the boy and welcomes him into his home. Starring André Wilms, Kati Outinen, Jean-Pierre Darroussin

Le Havre is a beautifully filmed movie. Aki Kaurismaki, the director, mixes the cruelty of life with humanity of life. It touches your heart. The pace of the film is slower than most but the story could be anyone’s. The ending bothered me a little, in the fact that it wasn’t what I expected. The movie was a little too perfect for my tastes. I would have wanted more conflict then the film had. I would still watch this film again.
