Dark Shadows (2012) Rated PG-13

A vampire whose been imprisoned for 196 years comes home to fix the curse on his family. Starring Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Helena Bonham Carter, Eva Green, Jackie Earle Haley, Jonny Lee Miller, Chloë Grace Moretz

Now, I haven’t seen the TV series, which I think might have been helpful because I had so many questions throughout the film. Many of these questions have probably been answered from the TV series or movies but since I haven’t seen any of them, I watched this with fresh eyes. The one question that wouldn’t leave me was, Was Barnabas Collins an only child or were there other siblings? They didn’t show any siblings, so what relations was Elizabeth Collins Stoddard and Roger Collins to Barnabas?  Were they cousins or did Barnabas and Josette have kids before their deaths? That was all I was thinking about throughout the film.

With the lack of direction and storyline, it’s still very stunning  with Tim Burton’s eye. So, my conclusion is that if you love Tim Burton or Johnny Depp you’ll enjoy the film but otherwise it was a waste.
