The Way Way Back (2013) Rated PG-13

way way backA teenage Duncan goes on a family summer vacation with his mom, her boyfriend and his daughter. Feeling out-of-place he friends a manager at the local water park. Starring Steve Carell, Toni Collette, Allison Janney, AnnaSophia Robb, Sam Rockwell, Maya Rudolph

This coming of age film is one of the best. Steve Carell had just the right meanness without being straight out evil. Allison Janney and Toni Collette brought their A game. The story carries you along a nostalgic road with charm, honesty, and heart. It’s an emotional story that warms your heart. The story doesn’t contrive situations as other coming of age films but tells realistic frustrations of life. It’s worth a watch.
