A washed out country music musician resets his life after meeting a woman who inspires him. Based on the novel of the same name by Thomas Cobb. Starring Jeff Bridges, James Keane, Anna Felix, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Colin Farrell, Robert Duvall
This is a very understated film. You slowly go through the transformation of Bad Blake, the musician, as he comes to terms with his alcoholism. Although, I’m not sure I agree with all the accolades it received or even for Jeff Bridges. The film runs as a typical down on the luck alcoholic and the people around him seem like we have seen them all before. This film was made to go straight to DVD and I wonder if it would have made as much of a buzz if it had been. There is no bad turns or moves through out this movie. It’s a great story, told the way it should have been.
