U-571 (2000) Rated PG-13

U-571A group of WWII Navy sailors infiltrate a German submarine to steal their Enigma cipher machine. Starring Matthew McConaughey, Bill Paxton, Harvey Keitel, Jon Bon Jovi

First, this is a fictional story based loosely on true events performed by the British Army, which caused a stir across the ocean upon its release.  Also, the real U-571 was not captured but sank off the coast of Ireland.  These, and many other, inconsistencies don’t detract from the overall success of the film, though.  It does an excellent job of portraying the US Navy in all of its glory.  These brave officers served faithfully, some making the last sacrifice, as they faced difficult decisions in the heat of battle.  This is what makes the  film great and worth a watch.
