Underground follows a group of slaves as they take a 600-mile trek from Georgia to the North. Starring Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Aldis Hodge, Jessica De Gouw, Alano Miller, Christopher Meloni, Reed Diamond, Amirah Vann.
I was surprised by how good this show is. It is balanced, representing both sides of the story (without being preachy), and it does so in an intriguing, though sometimes odd, way. The show incorporates modern background music, which is a little disorienting. Also, there are these strange dream sequences that don’t exactly make sense or connect into the otherwise realistic story line. Apart from these two aspects, it is a wonderful show and the actors are amazing. It is well worth a watch.
