The Sessions (2012) Rated R

the-sessionsA man with an iron lung wants to lose his virginity so he hires a sex surrogate. Based on an article, On Seeing a Sex Surrogate by Mark O’Brien. Starring John Hawkes, Helen Hunt, William H. Macy, Moon Bloodgood, Rhea Perlman.

The only highlight to this film is the acting. It’s got to take some gumption to act while naked.  Even so, it just wasn’t an exceptional film.  I mean, there are two main characters: a virgin and a married sex surrogate, and they shockingly start to develop feelings for each other. I was relieved to see that they stopped before things went too far.  It’s basically a promotional film for sex surrogates that failed to tell a compelling story. This film is a pass.
