The Paperboy (2012) Rated R

paperboyA reporter returns to his home town to investigate a case involving a death row inmate. Based on the book by Pete Dexter. Starring Zac Efron, Matthew McConaughey, Nicole Kidman, John Cusack, David Oyelowo,  Macy Gray.

This film over the top with everything. There are too many avenues and no specific story to hold them all together.  Throughout, I wondered where this movie was going, and at the end, I wondered what just happened.  However, the actors and the cinematography are its saving grace, which has a film noir feel to it, like you are in the backwoods of Florida.  Still, I just couldn’t get past the lack of a coherent story line.  This film is a pass.
