A look at the two coalitions, ACT UP and TAG (Treatment Action Group), who have turned AIDS from a death sentence into a manageable condition. Starring Ed Koch, David Barr, Bob Rafsky.
This documentary explores the start of the AIDS epidemic and the two coalitions which fought for the release of drugs that would that help bring this ravaging diseases under control, saving thousands of lives. These coalitions took on the government and FDA to get these drugs to the people who needed them. Although this documentary is well done and emotionally stirring, I couldn’t help but think there are two sides to every story. The FDA had a responsibility to the people to control the release of these drugs until they could be certain of the outcome. Also, I found it hard to maintain interest in the film, because it did verge on boring at times. This film is a pass.
