Rise of the Guardians (2012) Rated PG

When an evil spirit descends to Earth, the mythical Guardians must rise to protect the children of the world. Based on the book series, The Guardians of Childhood by William Joyce. Starring  Chris Pine, Alec Baldwin, Jude Law, Isla Fisher, Hugh Jackman.

This film’s animation is phenomenal, but that is about all it has going for it.  With a good vs. bad story line, this film focuses on a mythical group of Guardians: Santa Claus, Tooth Fairy, Easter Bunny, Sandman, and Jack Frost who are sent to protect children from believing in an evil spirit named Pitch Black. The religious undertones made me hopeful that the message would be worth the watch, but the story seemed to lose itself along the way. Some of the jokes were funny, but they even the humor wasn’t enough to save it. This film is a pass.
