The Founder (2016) Rated PG-13

The story of Ray Kroc, who took two brothers’ idea and made their restaurant into what it is today. Starring  Michael Keaton, Nick Offerman, John Carroll Lynch, Linda Cardellini, B.J. Novak, Laura Dern, Patrick Wilson.

This film tells the story of how Kroc stole the McDonald brothers’ restaurant right out from under them. An ambitious, persistent, and ruthless man, he also became incredibly successful at the McDonald brothers’ expense.  The film tries to make him likeable, as Keaton usually is, but as the film progresses, it becomes more difficult to side with him.  The hurt and injustice he caused the McDonald brothers is really unconscionable; they do not receive the compensation due to them from Kroc. It was their original idea for the restaurant that made it such a success, but in reality there is no redemption for these men or for Kroc himself. A fascinating story that is well executed, this movie is worth a watch.
