When a young Casualty Notification Officer tries to locate the last living family member of a fallen soldier, he is mistaken for the son of the soldier’s dying father. Based on the short story Night Watch by Roy Popkin. Starring Mary Jo Cuppone, Samantha J. Finch, Anthony Hornus, Steven Sutherland.
This movie is a dramatization of the story that’s been circling the internet. The film updates the story from the Vietnam War to the Afghanistan War. It does keep intact the armed forces ability to see a job to completion, and it also highlights the compassion the soldier shows to the dying man. It is respectful and well-told, although I felt seeing the story unfold on-screen wasn’t as poignant as reading the story itself. Still, it is worth a watch.
