The Master (2012) Rated R

A veteran becomes enthralled with The Cause and its charismatic leader.  Starring Joaquin Phoenix, Price Carson, Mike Howard, Laura Dern, Rami Malek, Jesse Plemons, Amy Adams, Philip Seymour Hoffman

I didn’t find this film particular enjoyable. I didn’t particularly enjoy the characters. There wasn’t a single character that intrigued me or made me sympathize with them. I am surprised with all the accolades of this film. There is nothing spectacular about this movie. The acting is great but with the lack of storytelling and not making any waves with the story. This is a film that can and will be forgotten even if it’s brilliantly filmed. In my option it isn’t brilliantly filmed because I could care less about this story. It might have been better if they actually told the story of L. Ron Hubbard then be inspired by him. This is a film that filmgoers who don’t see many films would get or understand. This is so not worth a watch.
