The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1938) Rated TV-G

Tom Sawyer and his friend Huckleberry Finn have great adventures on the Mississippi.  Based on the novel by Mark Twain. Starring Tommy Kelly, May Robson, Walter Brennan.

This is the first film adaptation of the novel The Adventures of Tom Sawyer that was filmed in color. It is faithful to the book with updated dialogue. The casting of this film was great. I think it’s one of the best films based on the book by Mark Twain. It’s also the prequel to The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, that was made the following year with a new cast. This is a film worth watching.
