Huckleberry Finn hates the confines of civilization, so he and a slave named Jim sail a raft down the Mississippi River. Based on the book by Mark Twain. Starring Mickey Rooney, Walter Connolly, William Frawley, Rex Ingram.
This is one of the most excellent film versions of Huckleberry Finn. Rooney, who was eighteen at the time, is older than the character he portrays. At times, he does appear older than a thirteen year old boy, but he does embody the precociousness of Huck Finn. The film brings the book to life and Ingram (Jim) counters Huck’s personality perfectly. This movie is worth a watch.
