A Madea Christmas (2013) Rated PG-13

Madea travels to a rural town to help a friend pay her daughter a visit. Starring Tyler Perry, Anna Maria Horsford, and Tika Sumpter.

I’m not a huge Madea fan, but I do enjoy Tyler Perry. This film takes Madea into a small town setting, where the daughter of Madea’s friend has a surprise for her mother. As in all Madea films, the story resonates of family. However, the film touches on storylines that have a “been there, done that” feel. It does lighten controversial topics with comedic moments, but not to the point that it isn’t funny. The film is one that would bring on the Christmas spirit, making it worth a watch.
