Hostiles (2017) Rated R

An army captain reluctantly takes the job of escorting a Cheyenne chief and his family home. Starring Scott Shepherd, Rosamund Pike, and Ava Cooper.

This film surprised me; it’s not the best-written script, but it’s character driven. Each character in the film holds their own, and the emotional change they go through is astounding. It’s so subtle that you don’t even realize these characters are changing, and that’s what the actors bring to the story. It’s a story that’s been told before, it’s not new, but the actors bring it to life. It’s also a slow-moving story; the film’s pacing and tone make you yawn, but as the characters grow on you and pull you into their struggles, you find yourself rooting for them. This is a film that’s worth a watch.
