A cop who has battled a heroin addiction relocates to Atlantic City where he starts a new life and restores his relationship with his daughter. Starring Heather Graham, Jennifer Ehle, Anthony Mackie, and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.
While watching this film, I wondered what the point of the movie was. We have a man struggling to get his life back in order, and along the way, he becomes entangled in his ex-wife’s affair. Plus, his new partner’s life also becomes complicated – the whole film is complicated. The climax doesn’t occur until close to the end of the film, and it isn’t explored as thoroughly as it should have been. The film focuses on the main character’s struggle with addiction, his family, and the complex relationships in his life. The narrator doesn’t explain how or why a dead body appears, which makes it all the more confusing. It’s another film that could’ve been better but missed its point. This film isn’t worth a watch.
