When Calls the Heart (2013) Rated TV-G

City girl, Elizabeth Thatcher leaves the comfort of her home to become a school teacher on the frontier, based on the book by Janette Oke. Starring Maggie Grace, Stephen Amell, and Poppy Drayton.

This movie inspired the series of the same name on the Hallmark channel. I have to say, the film isn’t as good as the series, but they did make a lot of changes to the series. In the film, Maggie Grace was perfect as Elizabeth Thatcher; I was surprised to see that she didn’t continue the role in the series. I actually think the series might have been better if they kept with the same actors, but what do I know? I haven’t read the books, so the film flowed well for me. The one thing that I’ll miss from the movie when watching the series is the romance between Elizabeth and Wynn – it should be continued. This film is still worth a watch.
