The Woman in White (PBS) Rated NR

This is an adaptation of  Wilkie Collins’ classic gothic novel. Starring Jessie Buckley, and Olivia Vinall, Dougray Scott.

The film takes the adaptation of Collins’ novel and tries to make it more of a horror story. It doesn’t pull off this feat. The film jumps back and forth through time as it tells the story of Walter Hartright, Laura, and Marian Halcombe. The miniseries pushes the story along with obvious telling by the characters of what happened, when it happened, and how it happened. Nothing is a surprise even though the filmmakers were trying to pull it off as suspenseful. The film is long and boring and doesn’t hold our attention. This adaptation is not worth a watch.
