Ron Stallworth, an African-American police officer in Colorado Springs, CO, infiltrates the local Ku Klux Klan branch with the help of a fellow officer who happens to be Jewish. Based on real events in the book  Black Klansman: Race, Hate, and the Undercover Investigation of a Lifetime by Ron Stallworth. Starring Alec Baldwin, John David Washington, and Isiah Whitlock Jr.

This film could have been so much better. It does have its good moments, but there is so much that doesn’t do it justice. Spike Lee does a lot to embellish the historical events that the film is based on. The movie takes cracks at past films with the historical context of African-American oppression. There are points in the film where racism in America really hits home. Still, there are other times when it is overly exaggerated to the point that it’s thrust down our throats. I wish they had just stuck to the book and the facts. The fictional story doesn’t do it justice, making the film not worth a watch.
