John & Yoko: Above Us Only Sky (2018) Rated NR

A documentary telling the story of the writing and producing of John Lennon’s 1971 album, Imagine. The film features interviews and unseen footage of the making of the album. Starring Yoko Ono, Julian Lennon, and Klaus Voormann.

This film follows Lennon and Ono through the year of making the album Imagine. We see them living their life at Tittenhurst Park, where most of the album was made. We see them on the road promoting Ono’s book and their political activism with Lennon’s interviews with the press. The film gives credit to Yoko Ono as a partner to Lennon throughout the production of the album. I thought the film did wonders at moving from video excerpts of the creative process to the interviews from people who lived through it. This film is worth the watch.
