In the Heat of the Night (CBS) Rated NR

The cases and adventures of the police force in Sparta, Mississippi. Starring Carroll O’Connor, Alan Autry, and David Hart.

The series premiere focuses on the transplant of a Philadelphia detective, who happens to be black, to small-town southern Mississippi. Although the premiere focuses on the racial adjustment of having a new black detective, the show continues with a good detective story that solves not only one murder but two. I think the language at the time this show was released was harder and was changed to go with the times rather than using the first words written. The show covers not just murders, but over the years it covers the hard cases. This show is worth a watch.
