42nd Street: The Musical (2019) Rated NR

A small-town talent gets her first break on Broadway. Starring Philip Bertioli, Billie-Kay, and Emma Caffrey.

This musical is adapted from the original Broadway production. The lead actors are brilliant; Clare Halse, as Peggy Sawyer, the small town talent, is a breath of fresh air. Tom Lister is amazing as the producer of the show who doesn’t notice Sawyer and then recognizes her brilliance. The costumes and lighting are wonderful to watch. However, the performance does lack in story and charm. The songs don’t push the story along but are enjoyable to listen to. With all the lackluster of the show, this is still one that is worth a watch.
