Maleficent (2014) Rated PG

A vengeful fairy curses a princess but discovers that she may be the one to save their land with peace. Starring Angelina Jolie, Elle Fanning, and Sharlto Copley.

I’m still wondering why Disney is on this trend that the evil characters from our fairy tales are really just misunderstood. I’m not completely sure that I think the trend is good. Here we have Maleficent that is the nemesis of Sleeping Beauty. This film is dark, and I’m not sure that I can recommend it for young kids. Loving the traditional story of Sleeping Beauty, this film is one that doesn’t enhance the story. It provides a different side to the story, but does this story need to be told? Not really. The film does have great CGI, and it’s always interesting to see what makes a villain a villain, making this film worth a watch.
