Hollywoodland (2006) Rated R

A detective investigates the death of actor George Reeves, who played Superman in Adventures of Superman. Starring Adrien Brody, Diane Lane, and Ben Affleck.

This is a brilliant film noir. The fractural presentation of the story bounces between Reeves’ life and death with shots of the private investigator probing his death. There were times I wished it had dug deeper into Reeves’ life than it did. It’s a character-driven film, where each of the actors brings their A-game. It’s a low key mystery, and at times the pacing could be better. The film is one that isn’t what you would expect, making it worth a watch.
