Damsels in Distress (2011) Rated PG-13

A trio of girls set out to change the male-dominated college and to save the other female students from their boorish lives. Starring Greta Gerwig, Carrie MacLemore, and Megalyn Echikunwoke.

This film is a deadpan romantic comedy. It has its moments of humor with its parody of Woody Allen. It’s a world of college-age adults struggling with the concept of changing the world, what that means, and how to do it. It’s quirky and odd, and you don’t know where this story is going to end. It ends rather anticlimactically. It’s a story that you wonder why you’re watching, but it intrigues you to the point of it being entertaining. The pacing is too slow at times, but the actors were wonderful, especially Gerwig as the lead damsel who takes her role seriously. However, this film is not worth a watch.
