The Violent Heart (2020) Rated UR

Fifteen years after the death of his sister, Daniel falls for a high school senior. Starring Jovan Adepo, Grace Van Patten, Lukas Haas, and Kimberly Williams-Paisley.

This story has a slow build with little going on. It’s not a bad script, the story is interesting, and it keeps you intrigued. You know something more is there, but you just can’t place it – until suddenly, it all makes sense. The film, for the most part, is as realistic as it can be with a murder setting the stage. There are some plot holes, and at points, I found it unrealistic. The casting is brilliant and understated. The characters don’t have much depth, but the actors still bring the complexity of their characters to life. The ending is what crushed it for me. There are too many twists and turns and craziness to make it probable. This film is not worth a watch.
