Pete’s Dragon (2016) Rated PG

An orphaned boy and his friendly dragon go on adventures. Starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Robert Redford, and Oakes Fegley.

This film is a reimaged telling of the story Pete’s Dragon. While the film has the classic Disney death of parents saga, the story is rather enduring. It’s a great family tale about the blessing it is to be a part of a family. I thought they might go a little into environmentalist activism, but it wasn’t too bad. They were more into getting the dragon than activism. The film holds the tone, story, and message from the original; it’s just as the original with little finesse. Elliot, the dragon, made by the computer animation was a joy to see. The film doesn’t wow you, but it does leave you with a warm feeling, making it worth a watch.
