Taboo (FX) Rated TV-MA

Adventurer James Keziah Delaney returns home to London during the war of 1812 to rebuild his father’s shipping business, but the government and other competitors want his inheritance. Starring Tom Hardy, David Hayman, and Jonathan Pryce.

This show has so much going for it, but there’s a lot lacking too. It’s dark, and the pacing is really bad.  The plot tries to work with the characters, but the depth of the characters just doesn’t get there fast enough. There are plot holes that don’t help with the characters’ strengths. The show tries to be too artsy rather than telling a good story. It doesn’t help that there’s a strong budget and that doesn’t make the show likable. This series isn’t worth the watch.
